1914 The Generation That Will Not Pass Away
It is no surprise that in 1995 the Watchtower Society had to change the "1914 Generation". Imagine people who were born before the events of 1914 took place and were assured by the Society that the Creator promised they would never pass away.
How many of the people pictured on the May 15, 1984 Watchtower cover believed this to be the Word of God? How many of them have passed away?
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.

Thank you for the insight. Good info to store away. By the way, why does JW teach what it does about the medical issues (transplants, medicine, etc)? Also, have many come to realize the false prophecy of the Society, and come to reckon it with the Deut. passage regarding false prophecies/prophets? How are they handling the change in "prophecy"?
My guess is that it wants to be seen as the authority on Earth for counsel for every day living.
The majority do not view a lot of what was said in the past as false prophecies. At best, they conclude, those were matters that needed refinement in understanding and that as the "light grows", the truth will get clearer.
You have to remember, only a few passages are read and studied at their meetings. Those are read using the understanding given by their human authority.

This is so sad to see. It's like one of my wife's friends, who just loves to listen to Jesse Duplantis, even after we've tried to show her that he's a weasel at best, and a blasphemer at worst. Some people, ya just can't reach.
